The Evil of the Left Must Not Be Ignored

I know many friends and family who are convinced that the policies of the Democratic Party are truly meant to guide the United States of America to a successful, prosperous and morally exceptional nation.  And, frankly, there was a time when one could be persuaded by moral arguments to vote Democratic.

Many dedicated Democratic voters still base their voting convictions on a party that once had redeeming qualities.  

Republicans and Democrats can be found in virtually every Christian church in the country.  Although they often hold to different political philosophies, in previous years these differences rarely developed into differences in religious activity and overall feelings of brother/sisterhood.  Today, however, differing political philosophies are rarely mentioned in most churches.  And that is a problem.  Those who have vaguely acknowledged this “turn” in the Church, have also expressed the hope that Joe Biden would return the Democratic Party back to its former more moderate policies.  This hope has obviously not been realized.  In fact, the last three Democratic Presidents have instead steadily and increasingly led the United States farther and further to the left, so much so that the far-left policies have become the Democratic Party standard.  

As a direct result of this turn to the far left, “We are falling further away from God and becoming more reliant on ourselves than we ever have in the history of this country.  [When] we observe the decay of our social institutions; it’s not hard to see why.  Man is not all-knowing: God is.  While man can manipulate life’s creation, it is God who creates life, and it would behoove us never to forget it.  Men who have ambition and power have one ultimate goal in mind, whether they or we want to admit it or not, and that is to replace God and forget His existence.” (Armstrong Williams)   The far left, where evil mainly resides, has become the voice of the party.   The truth now is — if you vote for the “Left,” you are effectively voting in favor of evil.  I realize that last sentence can be very provocative.  Because of this it becomes necessary to define evil.  So, what is evil?  To define evil we must first understand sin.  

Replacing God is precisely what Satan wishes to do.  In Isaiah 14:13-14, we are told that Satan “. . . said in [his] heart, ‘I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon.  I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’” (NIV)  To cause mankind to forget or disregard the existence of God is what Satan’s quest to replace God is dependent upon.   

Ezekiel 28:17 says about Satan, “Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor.  So I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings.” (NIV)  Satan’s expulsion from heaven led to his tempting of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.  Satan despised mankind because man was created in the image of God.  Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness. . . . Genesis 1:26a NIV), and Satan wanted to control God’s creation, and destroy the union both between man and woman, and mankind and God.  So he successfully tempted Adam and Eve with a lie.  

Whereas God warned Adam and Eve not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil or they will be sure to die, Satan, on the other hand, convinced Eve that she would not die.  Telling her, “’You won’t die! . . . God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.’”  (Genesis 3:4a, 5).  We need to stop and think about the repercussions of this truth.  By eating of the tree of knowledge, Adam and Eve, and their progeny were given the power to distinguish between good and evil.  “Then the Lord God said, ‘Look, the human beings have become like us, knowing both good and evil.’”  (Genesis 3:22a (NIV).  It is important to understand and remember that mankind, that includes all who live today, has the ability to know the difference between good and evil.  This means we have no excuse for dismissing the presence of evil, not only in our lives, but in the society and culture in which we live.  1 Peter 5:8-9a tells us to “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  Resist him, standing firm in the faith,”  (NIV)

In this passage above from Genesis God goes on to say, “What if they reach out, take fruit from the tree of life, and eat it?  Then they will live forever!” (Gen. 3:22b NIV)  This led God to expel them from the Garden of Eden, “So the Lord banished them from the Garden of Eden . . .” (Genesis 23)  Not only have we inherited the knowledge of good and evil from Adam, we have also inherited the fact that all of mankind is subsequently born in sin.  David, in Psalm 51, admits “For I was born a sinner—yes, from the moment my mother conceived me.”  (v. 5, NIV). From the time of man’s fall from the Garden we are condemned to be born in sin.   This is sometimes referred to as inbred sin, because Adam and Eve’s sin became inherited by all who followed.  This sin was inbred in us.

But we must keep in mind that “. . . it is proper to speak of inbred sin as a state or condition rather than as an act, because it does not require the action of the will in order to exist. 1  “This sort of sin “is a matter of man’s condition, his moral state. . . . [But sin] is also a matter of his action, what he does.” 2  This sort of sin is matter of a choice between right and wrong, it arises “in the freedom of the human will,” it “originates in the assent of the will.” 3  Remember, we know the difference between good and evil.  So “Sin does not exist independently of human beings.” 4 When we choose what we know to be wrong, we commit a sin.  In this sense, with God’s help, we have control over sin.  This control is displayed when we choose to confess our sins, and believe God is willing to forgive us of those sins.  Subsequent to our confessing and choosing to follow God, His grace enables us to rid ourselves of the sin that is inbred in us.  So sin, as inbred, and as a result of our own actions, can be erased from our lives by the grace of God.  This is why David is able to confidently cry out, “Create in me a clean heart, O God.  Renew a loyal spirit within me.”  (Psalm 51:10  NIV)

So then we must again ask: what is evil?   First of all, evil does include sin.  But, as we have seen, God’s grace, His redemption, gives us the power to rid ourselves of sin.  God’s atonement, Christ’s death on the cross, does lead to forgiveness of sin, but it does not rid the world of evil.  Sin does invite evil into our lives, but there is an aspect of evil that reaches beyond those sins that we commit, and for which we can seek forgiveness.  This aspect includes such events as calamities, diseases, death, and other such things. This evil can also be described as a conscious willingness to do serious wrongs.  This evil is an aspect of sin that we should acknowledge and stand against.  It is the evil that is perpetrated without concern for consequences or even relished in its lack of regard for God and His creation.  It is important that we keep this definition of evil at the front of our mind as we give examples of evil in our government, news, and in our society in general.  It will become the gauge by which evil can and should be seen.  When I write of something that I deem to be evil, I do so only after I hold it up to this definition.  If it fits the definition it is virtually assured it is evil.

Today’s far left is one of the most persistent purveyors of evil, leading to harmful consequences to our country and society.  They have become expert in making evil look like it is broad-minded and civilized, disregarding the consequences that lead to harm.  After all, in the mind of these leftist, only a civilized nation is able to be open-minded enough to accept this new idea of a broadminded civilized society. To guard against this mindset we are told to, “Be attentive to your heart and watch your enemies, for they are cunning in their malice. In your heart be persuaded of this: it is impossible for a man to achieve good through evil means. That is why our Savior told us to be watchful, saying: ‘Strait is the gate, and narrow is the way that leads to life, and few there are that find it (Matt. 7:14).  If we are not watchful the enemy of our soul will eventually take control of our souls. 

However, the enemy requires our participation.  Satan would be powerless if we did not willing follow him.  Therefore, being mindful requires constant attention on our part, because a man does not normally decide to do wrong for the sake of wrong.  Instead, he often regretfully does something bad.   He has been fooled into believing a certain act should be taken because it has the potential to become something good.  In “trading” a certain evil for a possible good, he thereby actually agrees with the evil.   So, what this country once considered depraved; or to use another word, evil, has apparently become neutralized by this new outlook.  But there is no neutral ground between good and evil; it is not a matter of opinion.  To make it so is to enter into the idea of moral relativism.  In moral relativism the definition of “good” or “evil” depends on personal preferences or situations.  

This is the evil we face today, and thus the evil we must speak against if we do not want God to hold us guilty of supporting evil.  If we attempt to seek neutral ground in this fight against evil, we are effectively collaborating with the enemy.  The Bible warns against this so called “open-mindedness.”  In Isaiah 5:20 we are told, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” (NIV). In Romans 12:9 Paul writes, “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.”  Paul’s undeniable implication is that there is definite difference between good and evil, and we are called to hate evil.  

Speaking up against evil puts us in the middle of the battle.  But, as God reminded King Jehoshaphat, it is actually not our battle, it is God’s, and He will be with you as you take a stand, “[God] said: ‘Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow march down against them. They will be climbing up by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge in the Desert of Jeruel. You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.’” (2 Chronicles 20:15-17 NIV)

Notice something very important in God’s assurance to asking Jehoshaphat.  While it is true that God assured him that He, God, was going to fight the battle, Jehoshaphat still had a part to play.  He was not told to go home and wait for the Lord to bring victory.  No, instead he was told to take up his battle positions, and to stand firm.  It was from that position that he would be able to see how God delivers.  He was not going to have to fight the battle, but he was going to have to face the enemy without fear.  It was going to take faith, but God promised to be with him.

How often do we hear from God, who says He will be there for us, but then we back down from the enemy.  We walk away from the fight, all the while claiming we’ve given it to the Lord, while in reality we’ve simply been afraid to stand our ground and hold firm in our faith.  How often have we missed the opportunity to increase our faith because we did not maintain our position; a position that would have allowed us to see exactly how God was at work in our life, fighting our battles for us.  Yes, we are asked to give all our battles, concerns, daily struggles, and just our day-to-day living to the Lord.  But this does not mean that we are then free to walk away from life.  We are to stand firm in the midst of all this.  We are to continue to face the enemy, the day-to-day concerns, and believe that God stands with us, beside us, and for us!

What I’ve so far written in this post has undoubtedly raised the ire of many of those friends and family I mentioned earlier.  But let me point out the evils of which I speak.  I believe these will support my belief that the Democratic Party and their far-left base are now more interested in mollifying the far left than protecting the rights and well-being of our country.  They actually make no effort to stall, let alone reverse, the trend toward evil.

These far-left practitioners have been able to sell the lie that these evil practices should be accepted in the name of “fairness, generosity, and tolerance.” (p. 16, The Marketing of Evil) These are, after all, good Christian attributes.  But the Bible warns us about these deceptive lies.  We must keep in mind that when God calls something evil, He does not change His mind.  After all, why would He sacrifice His only Son for us if He knew He would later change His mind about evil and sin.  Isaiah 5:18 and 24 warns, “You are in trouble! The lies you tell are like ropes by which you drag along sin and evil. . . . You have rejected the teaching of the holy LORD God All-Powerful of Israel.” (CEV)  So by not following the teaching of God, given to us by His Word, the Bible, we can ultimately spread evil wherever we go.  When we allow evil to dominate our society without speaking against it, we have ignored the warning of the Bible verse that says, “He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to the Lord.”  (Proverbs 17:15 ESV)  Evil is an abomination, no matter when or where it is practiced.

Gender Fluidity, Homosexuality, Transgenderism

One of the most pervasive evils we are encountering today is the idea of gender fluidity.  This evil has become accepted by far too many public schools and other institutions.  The evil has extended to the degree that many educational leaders believe they have the right to actually influence young children to “accept” that they may not be comfortable in the role of the gender to which they were born.  It is made to look wise and good by calling it a virtuous self-expression.  All this without notifying the child’s parents.  There is no regard for the damaging psychological outcomes that arise from gender confusion and self-loathing.  

This so-called fluidity has resulted in forcing our society to accept any man, who desires to be identified as a woman, into sports activities, thus denying the real female any chance at winning in competition.  It allows a biological man the right to walk into any restroom and potentially expose himself to a female who is simultaneously using the same facility.  Under Biden’s Office of Personnel Management guidance, “all federal facilities with showers and changing rooms now must be opened to people of the opposite sex based on their say-so. Surely many women who enjoy working out at the office gym will object to seeing grown men getting naked in front of them in the locker rooms.”  (Roger Séverine). It was once unlawful for a man to expose himself in a public setting.  It was once considered an evil and perverted act.  It still should be!  

Related to gender fluidity, if not fully a part thereof, is transgenderism and homosexuality.  Both are being sold as normal human behavior.  When we speak against such practices we are labeled as unenlightened, racist, homophobic, and transphobic.  There is no tolerance for argument.  There is no right to question such things as transgender men in women’s sports.  The voice of morality has been silenced by these accusations.  

I often hear those who want to justify homosexual behavior say that the Bible says very little about homosexuality.  So little as a matter of fact, they claim, that it can be rightly construed that God was not actually condemning homosexual behavior, rather these passages either are simply reflections of the authors personal feelings, or they are not actually talking about homosexuality.  But here is what the Bible says: “Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.”  (Romans 1:24-25, 32 NIV)

If we take the above passage as a whole, we can see that the condemnation of homosexual behavior is not simply a warning against the behavior itself.  This passage gives a fuller account of the results of the depraved nature of any lustful behavior, including homosexual behavior.  Even those who claim to be Christians and practice homosexuality cannot be excused when you consider that the last verse in this passage warns even them that those who continue “to do these very things” deserve death.  As a matter of fact, they are doubly condemned when they speak up for the acceptance of homosexual behavior in the Christian church since they are thereby “approving those who practice” such behavior.

When will it end?  Our current society has caused many Christians to refrain from speaking against homosexual behavior.  The concept of morality fluctuates so routinely, it may never end; the point is that it creates the confusion we see in today’s culture.  We don’t know how to talk to each other because we fear we might insult someone, but we don’t know what words will insult today that were okay to say yesterday.  We cannot criticize another person or group, even in a positive way, because we might be accused of being a racist, a misogynist, a homophobe, or ascribed any other label that is perceived to be intolerant.  What was once called good, we now call evil, and what was one called evil we now call good.  All in the name of tolerance.  We must accept everyone else’s definition of morality and responsibility, or we are labeled intolerant or worse.  

We are in a state of flux and confusion because we are unsure of what will be deemed good or evil, truth or false, at any given moment.  This is the essence of moral relevance.  It is a direct outcome of the moral philosophies of Ayer, Sartre and others who have thrown God out of our educational pursuit of moral absolutes and replace Him with the belief that man is his own absolute, and as such he can define his own morality as it fits his own idea of “if it feels good.”  The state of flux continues as society changes, and once again what is considered evil today will likely be considered good in the future.  When we accept the notion that my truth can conflict with your truth then, in effect, we have rejected truth all together.

In the introduction to Francis A. Schaeffer’s book, “He Is There And He Is Not Silent,” Chuck Colson wrote, “God has revealed to us the truth about the world in which we live, the truth about our human existence and the truth about himself.  He has spoken truly to us in his Word, and therefore, the message of the Bible fits with the nature of reality as we experience it. . .. Christianity is true to the way things are.”  Morality can and should be defined with absolute certainty.  There is no confusion with God.   The Bible throughout convinces us of the absolute and unchangeable nature of God.   Our God, the only true God, “is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8 NIV) To the Christians in Rome Paul warned, “I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil.” (Romans16:19 NIV). Paul was certain about what is good and what is evil and knew that each person had the capability to make that determination, because of the immutability of God.  We can depend on His Word to always be true, in every situation.

It is interesting to note what Paul wrote to the Romans immediately preceding his warning to be wise about what is good.  “I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.”  (Romans 16:17-18 NIV). Without moral certainty there will always be divisions and obstacles to hearing and abiding by the truth.   Paul warned the Colossians, “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.”  (Colossians 2:8 NIV) Without moral certainly we can be easily trapped in mindless and deceitful ideologies.  These ideologies developed solely through human understanding cause confusion and conflict.  The Truth as revealed through His Word can bring peace and unity.

Because of his conviction that moral certainty is found in God, Paul wrote with confidence, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”  (Philippians 4:8 NIV) Paul knew these were not abstract notions.  We too can be confident that when we think about the moral certainties of God and put them into practice, we will know the peace of God. (Philippians 4:9) There need not be confusion, divisions, or deception among the people of God.  When Christians think on these things, they will become like the early church who overcame the pagan culture of their day and changed the world as a result.  

This is our challenge today.  In a culture where God is scorned, Christians must unite behind the moral certainty, the truth, of God’s Word.  We too can be the catalyst that God uses to change the world.  A culture wallowing in confusion and deceit can be changed back to the culture upon which this nation was founded.  This greatness of our exceptional country has been rooted in our belief in the immutability of God.  We are, or at least have been, an exceptional society because we knew there was certainty in our moral values.  Certain acts were immoral across the board; there was no confusion.  In Christ there is no confusion.   Many Christians fear the societal condemnation that attributes to them the supposed guilt of being a homophobe, a non-loving “Christian,” or someone who would rather exclude people rather than love them.  The truth is, however, that to truly love someone it is sometimes necessary to reveal their sin.  The New Testament in particular speaks numerous times about the need to hold each other up.  

The public in general is being desensitized through the continuous inundation of “gay-related advertising, presented in the least offensive fashion possible.”  Using the term “gay rights” enables those, who wish to make homosexual behavior acceptable, to frame their argument less about sexual behavior and more about making their argument sound positive.  They feel homosexuals can be framed as though they have not been given the same rights as other “straight” citizens.  

Even the term “gay” implies happiness.  They want us to believe gay people are happy people.    “In truth, most homosexuals experience guilt and conflict when they first discover homosexual urges. Thus, there is a strong temptation – especially in today’s pro- ‘gay’ culture – for them to ‘resolve’ the conflict by giving in to the compulsion and affirming, ‘It’s okay to be gay.’. . . But if they do, there is just no way out for them. For this reason, the most loving stance for others to take is not to serve as enablers of self-destructive and immoral compulsions, but to stand in patient but firm opposition. In other words, we need to side with the afflicted person’s conscience. In America, we’ve done the opposite. . .. So merely by using the term gay rights, and persuading politicians and the media to adopt this terminology, activists seeking to transform America have framed the terms of the debate in their favor almost before the contest begins.” (David Kupelian)   

When we attempt to quote the Bible, it is called “hate” speech.  The far-left cries of protest are so loud and angry that when we point out that we don’t hate the homosexual or the transgender, our voices are not heard, or they are summarily ignored.   The truth is, as we attempt to point out, our condemnation of these practices is actually out of love rather than hate.  We know that God cannot look on evil and thereby accept it in His presence.  “O God, you take no pleasure in wickedness; you cannot tolerate the sins of the wicked. Therefore, the proud may not stand in your presence, for you hate all who do evil.”

(Psalms 5:4-5 NLT) Our desire is for God to welcome each person into His fellowship.  Yet we know He cannot fellowship where evil resides.  It is the love of the Christian that wishes to discourage these lifestyles.  By expressing love even while being accused of hating, we allow God’s love to show through. We therefore must not allow ourselves to hate the homosexual or the transgender. But, it sometimes becomes necessary to offend people as we take our stand against evil.  

One person who was able to transition back from homosexual behavior said,  “I’m grateful for those who cared enough about me to offend me.”  Sometimes being offensive is an act of love.  This person went on to say, “Instead, the benign, white-robed Jesus of my youth gave way to the powerful, loving, risen Savior. I had a profound sense that he understood me and loved me as I was, but that he had much more for me than the life for which I had settled. He did not send me away on some quest to change my sexuality. He beckoned me to join him on a journey of total life transformation. His kindness drew me to repentance, and his love was so intensely compelling that it wooed me home. The offending parties in my life were waiting, as loving and gracious as they had ever been—not holding my sin against me, but standing there, ready to walk with me in the journey ahead of me.  Today my marriage is restored and has grown beyond my imagination. I have three beautiful children and am living out the call on my life to vocational ministry. I have a new, singular, and unshifting identity based not in what I feel, but in who I am in Christ. Through struggle and suffering, I have grown in life-giving intimacy with God. Healing has happened in my family relationships, and I am closer to that group of friends than ever before.” . . . Thank you, dear friends, for your offense to me! At the time, the Truth you shared was the aroma of death to me (2 Corinthians 2:15), but today it is the sweet fragrance of Life.” (Unknown)

The far left’s angry reaction to the Christian’s proclamation of love is nothing less than encouraging the spreading of evil.  And the Democratic Party embraces these evils.  They encourage same-sex marriage.  They flaunt transgender people, by allowing them to speak in our schools.  They honor them by giving them a voice at public events.  This includes the display of so-called transgender nuns at a Dodger’s baseball game, where they openly mocked Christ.   And we are supposed to standby and allow these atrocities to be displayed in front of children at school, and to be held up as worthy at a major league ball park.  

Too often we fear being labeled, as I mentioned above, so we just sit on our hands and hope it is only a phase and will eventually go away. Unfortunately, when evil gets a stronghold, it will not be deterred.  Instead, it will show itself more prominently in even more diabolical ways.  Evil begins to grow exponentially.  “The number of kids who identify as LGBT, especially trans and bisexual, has absolutely skyrocketed. If you think this is a natural or organic development, you’re deluded. The media, Hollywood, and the school system actively recruit children into the LGBT ranks.” (Matt Walsh)   Gender fluidity is denying the creative sovereignty of God, and leading humans to believe the lie that a man or woman can change or deny his or her gender.  It is in effect saying that God made a mistake, and humans need to correct His errors.

Abortion

Another very widely seen and performed evil is abortion.  Abortion may be one of the more prominent and visible evils we have endured as legal for decades.  Frankly, the recent Supreme Court decision to overturn “Roe vs. Wade” has done little to curb those who favor the evil of abortion.  The latest Dodd case left it up to each state to determine if they wish to pass laws allowing abortion.  In reality, therefore, abortion is still legal.  Some states, usually governed by Democrats, have doubled down on encouraging abortion, even to the time of what would normally be called, in a morally decent world, birth.

A morally competent nation would categorize abortion as murder.  It would be rightly seen as infanticide.  The evil of abortion has murdered millions of infants since the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973.  The argument that rape which leads to the birth of a child that will forever remind the mother of the trauma of the rape, or the conceivable death of the mother, or the probability that the child will be born with a severe disability, or the likelihood that the child will be born into an unhealthy environment—all these and other arguments to make abortion acceptable do not wipeout the evil that is the act of abortion.  

In all these cases the child is still a creation of God.  Rape is violent and psychologically devastating, but the birth of the child can and should be seen as a gift of a God who is able to turn any tragedy into a source of joy, redemption, and love.  Counseling may or may not help with this psychological problem, but killing a child carries its own psychological issues.  If these issues cannot be overcome hopefully adoption would be seen as a helpful and healthy option.  In any case evil cannot be the excuse to perpetrate more evil

What about those who will likely be born with severe disabilities?  Wouldn’t it be evil to think you know better than God and are justified in making the decision that some people are better or have greater value than others?  Certainly, we do not kill anyone currently living who is severely disabled.  Instead, we love them and provide for their care.  This can and should be done for the child disabled at birth.  Germane to this discussion, are we also to kill all children living in unhealthy environments?  Again, we do all we can as a society to improve the quality of life of everyone. 

At this juncture it might be good to remind us as Christians that we have the power, not only of prayer, but of combined resources that can and should be used to better the environment of those who are suffering, whether the suffering be physical, mental, emotional, or financial.  In other words, we should not be condemning people for their actions when we fail to provide more than lip service to their needs and problems. We are told in Proverbs to “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”  (Proverbs 31:8-9 NIV) But this is not the end of it.  The Bible also says, “Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?”  (James 2:15-16 NIV)).  We are obliged as Christians to “put feet to our prayers.”  We should be practicing acts that bring help to those you are suffering.

As far as the potential death of the mother, The American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians “acknowledges that when “extreme” life threatening emergencies arise, ‘premature delivery’ may be indicated.  But unlike in an abortion . . . ‘Every reasonable attempt to save the baby’s life would be a part of our medical intervention.” (Phoebe Petrovic, Wisconsin Watch, June 7, 2022).  The decision to abort should not be an easy one.  Every consideration must be discussed.  Aborting the child for medical reasons can be so very nuanced and complex that it can be difficult to determine what the risk of death is for the mother, or the child.   

Climate Change

Another evil that has caused much unwarranted fear and harm is the left’s obsession with climate change.  This is not to say that climate change should be ignored, but there should be more reasonable approaches to a problem where it is not really clear how much of a threat, if any, climate change poses for mankind.  It is a mistake completely write off global warming by declaring it really isn’t happening at all.  There is some evidence that global warming is happening.  The unclear aspect of this is that no one is really sure how bad it is.  The global climate is always changing, but the science on the exact causes is far from settled.  Yet the far left is determined we spend enormous amounts of money on the perceived threat of climate change.  The only reasonable explanation for this spending is that it is politically motivated. 

The far left wants to eliminate anything they deem harmful to the environment.  While he was a still candidate for President, Biden proclaimed, “No more drilling on federal lands, no more drilling, including offshore—no ability for the oil industry to continue to drill—period.”  On his first day in office President Biden made good on this promise.  This policy of elimination was made clear on President Biden’s first day in office when he immediately shut down the Keystone XL pipeline that allowed the United States to be independent from reliance on other countries for our oil.  This was an obvious nod to environmentalists, making good on his promise to the climate activists who helped get him elected, and therefore the assurance their votes, and their money would support the Democratic Party. 

In any case for the United States to attempt to prevent climate can be considered ludicrous since many other countries still drill for oil and use it to power their electrical plants and automobiles.  These countries have no concern over climate issues, they only care about the money involved.  “All the wind and solar and getting rid of fossil fuels and getting dependent on Russia just enriched Russia. . ..All the bad actors in the world, none of them are going green. (Steve Malloy)  “In short, if the climate alarmists succeed in the U.S., life would get worse for most people, but green activists and investors would benefit, while the world becomes less stable. Fewer people would be able to live in the suburbs, and air conditioning and heating could be rationed in the summer and winter. Appliances wouldn’t work as well, and a green upper class would continue to entrench itself.”  (Tyler O’Neil)

Why can this be considered evil?  We only need to refer back to our definition of evil.  Evil can be described as a conscious willingness to do serious wrongs. The predictable outcome to this unbelievably disastrous policy is that gas price exploded and the stock market plummeted.  There was absolutely no concern for the harm this would cause businesses, or private citizens.  Climate change moralists love humanity so much in the abstract that they must shut down its life-giving gas, coal, and oil in the concrete. And they value humans so little that they don’t worry in the here and now that ensuing fuel shortages and exorbitant costs cause wars, spike inflation, and threaten people’s ability to travel or keep warm.”  (Victor David Hansen)Among other repercussions this led to “killing hundreds of thousands of jobs, . . . and undoing a slew of Trump’s energy-related deregulation.  Moreover, Biden’s order will ‘restore science’ to its rightful place as the state religion.” (Nate Jackson)

And this leads into another reason why the left’s approach to climate change should be considered evil.  It is evil in that they worship the climate gods in place of God, who is the only One who can actually lead mankind into a right relationship with the climate.  “If climate change is truly a problem, we’ll solve it the same way we solved hunger, disease, and exposure to nature’s fury — by harnessing the collective power of the God-created human mind.”  The Bible teaches us that man was given dominion over the earth, including the animals.”  “Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’”  (Genesis 1:26 NIV)   The Left, on the other hand teaches humans are are irrevocably subjugated to nature.  “The earth is their goddess and their prophets are drawn from the political class. Remember Barack Obama claiming his nomination to the presidency would itself mark the day when the oceans would begin to recede and the earth would begin to heal?” (Louis Debroux)

Climate change is a threat to the left, because, for the most part, they don’t believe in God.  This can be assumed because, if they did believe in God, they would admit to the wonderfully miraculous design of the universe that is far above anything we can comprehend.  Instead, they want us to believe that everything in the universe is there by accident, a product of evolution.  And as such the earth is so  extremely fragile it can be easily destroyed by the failure of man to take care of it.  Pete Buttigieg declared “To me, environmental stewardship isn’t just about taking care of the planet; it’s taking care of our neighbor. … And the biggest problem with climate change isn’t just that it’s going to hurt the planet … it’s that we are hurting people.”  This was his attempt to compare “environmental stewardship” to God’s desire that Christians love their neighbor as they would love themselves.  (Matthew 22:37-39)

Attempts by the far left to use the teachings of the Bible to justify their political agenda fall flat. “They not only don’t truly believe what it says, they are actively hostile to its teachings. They use it simply as a political tool against religious conservatives.” (Debroux)

Illegal Immigration 

Another evil promoted by the far left has to do with illegal immigration and Biden’s misguided border policy.  Democrats have led many to believe that their position on illegal immigrants is a reflection of their “compassionate” interest in helping “the poor and downtrodden of the world.”  But what about the collateral damage?   Biden’s failure to solve our border crisis has led to more than one evil.  Of course human trafficking seems to top the list of resultant evils, but a close second would be the proliferation of illegal drugs crossing the border with impunity.  Over 90,000 American deaths have resulted from the unprecedented availability of deadly drugs like fentanyl.  Other evils that are the direct result of Biden’s failure at the border include the threat of terrorist who now can enter the United States without challenge or even detection, and the invasion of gangs such as MS-13, a “predatory criminal organization, living mostly from extortion, the gang’s resilience owes to its strong social bonds, which are created and strengthened via acts of violence against mostly their rivals and one another.”

Immigration problems affecting the city and state of New York provides a glimpse of what illegal immigration cost cities and states across the United States.  The cost of the crisis in New York is projected to reach $10 billion by the summer of 2025, state officials say.  “Without real immigration reform and a decompression strategy at the border, there will be no end in sight,” New York City Mayor Eric Adams said.  New York City already is running a $7 billion deficit and has been forced to cut education and police budgets.  New York is a perfect example of what you get when blue city governance comes into contact with President Joe Biden’s lawless border policies: barely contained social breakdown.  (Jarrett Stepman)

Child Trafficking

How about child molesting, child trafficking, or something characterized as “man-boy love,” which in it self was once considered child molesting?   I don’t know of many people who would not call these acts evil.  Yet, in Democratic run cities the child molester may be arrested, but he or she will more than likely be released.  Sometimes without felony charges.  That is evil!  

A major component of the open border evil is the effective promulgation of human trafficking.  “There’s sex trafficking, kids in cages, and tens of thousands in debt and literal slavery to the cartels to pay for their passage to America.” (Roger Helle) Both the Mainstream Media and the far-left bear much blame for discounting what is a growing problem of human trafficking.  They want to characterize human trafficking as a conspiracy theory, when the truth is well documented – human trafficking is glaring problem and is a fact.  Human trafficking is emboldened by President Biden’s contemptuous open border misconduct.  “It has been repeatedly documented that migrant women and children are often victims of sexual abuse and trafficking due in large part to the Mexican cartels.” (Thomas Gallatin)

A recent movie titled “Sound Of Freedom” has been a box office success as it describes and documents the rescue of child sex trafficking victims.  But its topic is not a favorite of “Hollywood,” even though their own spoke’s publication “Variety” called it “a compelling movie that shines an authentic light on one of the crucial criminal horrors of our time, one that Hollywood has mostly shied away from.”  When studios were approached to distribute and promote the film, studios such as Netflix, Amazon, 20th Century Fox, and Disney passed on the film.  These are studios that distribute R-rated films, but refused to release this one.  It is common knowledge that these studios promote left-wing ideologies whenever possible.  Disney has gone so far as to replace some of its most beloved animation characters with more “politically correct” characters that highlight such evils as homosexuality and transgenderism. 

COVID

What I consider to be one of the greatest evils to be fraudulently imposed, not only one the United States, but all across our planet, was the mandates to follow governmental orders regarding the alleged COVID-19 pandemic.  While it is true that COVID was, in many cases, a deadly virus, it should not have been as frightening as it was made by those who knew better.  The deaths accredited to COVID were not nearly as numerous as the CDC  (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and the federal government led us to believe.

The evils propagated by our government’s response to the COVID virus were many and varied.  One of the egregious evils was the mandated shutdown of schools, churches and many small businesses.  Children and High School aged young people were relegated to their respective home to watch their teachers attempt to provide a meaningful lesson via the internet and live streaming through applications such as Zoom.

New research  published . . . in the journal Nature Human Behaviour concludes that the combination of pandemic-related school closures, the shift to virtual learning where it was even an option and the mental health toll on students set kids back by about a third of a year. The analysis concluded as much based on a review of 42 other studies conducted in 15 countries. Nearly all the world’s student population experienced school closures because of COVID. . . . If the U.S. and other countries don’t invest in the right solutions, fast, and make sure students participate, he said, “I’m not sure whether we are going to be able to completely catch up these learning deficits that we’re     seeing. . . . This is potentially going to be a big problem for this generation.” (as reported by Nirvi Shah USA TODAY) 

Of course we cannot forget the evil of all the lies.  Most of these lies were foisted on us by Dr. Anthony Fauci, former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious DIseases (NIAID), and chief medical advisor to the president (Biden) from 2021 to 2022.  There were many lies perpetrated on us by those who wished to scare the public into locking down and not personally communicating with others.  One lie that has subsequently been disproved is that the COVID coronavirus had a far higher fatality rate than the flu by several orders of magnitude, which of course led to the related lie that everyone was at significant risk to die from this virus.

It was also proven that locking down—closing schools and businesses, confining people to their homes, stopping non-COVID medical care, and eliminating travel did not serve to stop or eliminate the virus.  It has also been shown that masks never prevented or protected anyone from the virus.  Dr. Fauci’s ever changing rules on masks should have given a clear clue to everyone listening to him that he was not truthful.  “The tragic failure of reckless, unprecedented lockdowns that were contrary to established pandemic science, and the added massive harms of those policies on children, the elderly, and lower-income families, are indisputable and well-documented in numerous studies. This was the biggest, the most tragic, and the most unethical breakdown of public health leadership in modern history.”   (Scott W. Atlas)

To keep our schools closed people like Randy Weingarten, president of the 1.7 million-member American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO, insisted that teachers were especially at high risk.  She never once expressed concern about the detrimental effects lockdowns had on the health and wellbeing of the students.  Many cities closed down schools, switched to remote learning, and generally left the lockdown regime in place to placate teachers unions.

In the meantime, authorities were telling us that no one has any immunological protection, because this virus is completely new, and that only COVID vaccines can stop the spread of the infection since immune protection only comes from a vaccine.  But I can personally attest that immune protection is not limited to a vaccine.  Apparently, in December of 2019, my wife and I contracted the COVID virus.  We did not think much of it at the time, though we both were pretty sick.  Within a couple of weeks, we were feeling better and attributed our experience to a bad case of the flu.

However, later on in the Spring of 2020, as a result of Gail donating blood through the Red Cross, it was determined that she had once been infected with the COVID virus.  Since she had not been sick since the previous December, we could only assume that was when she contracted the virus.  We also assumed, since I was also sick that December, that I too had COVID at that time.  For that reason, and because I was of the opinion even then that all the “precautions” were unnecessary, I decided I would not get vaccinated for COVID.  To this day, in 2024, I have yet to be vaccinated, and I have yet to be “reinfected” with the virus.  I can therefore reasonably conclude that my one and only bout with COVID gave me immunity from the virus.

My conclusion, based on the facts that I have personally experienced, is that immune protection is not limited to those who have been vaccinated.  The truth is, while I’ve never been sick with the virus since 2019, virtually everyone who received the vaccination have had reoccurring bouts with the virus.  This evil is directly caused by government mandates, the misconduct of pharmaceutical companies, and the lies of Dr. Fauci and the Biden administration.  Maybe vaccines did save some lives, I don’t know.  But I am convinced that multiple vaccines were absolutely unnecessary.  This truth has been verified by many medical professionals.  

Higher Education

On October 7, 2023 the terrorist group, Hamas, executed a terrorist attack on Israel and its people.  This attack will likely go down as one of the worst and savage terrorist attacks in history.  It would not have been unreasonable to assume that most civil and morally right-thinking people would see this attack as nothing less than evil.  But if you assumed that you were wrong.  Instead of condemning these barbaric attacks on the citizens of Israel, many, mostly at college campuses across the nation, chose to blame Jews for the attacks.  Their cry essentially became a call for the destruction and even genocide of the Jewish population worldwide.

It is important to recognize where most of those blaming the Jews comes from.  They are mostly college students.  These students are products of an educational system that does not have the courage to define moral clarity.  “Higher education in America is supposed to be the place where tomorrow’s leaders are made. But these institutions of so-called higher learning are no longer anything of the kind. America’s colleges and universities are now indoctrination centers run by leftists who see evil in most anything that’s white, male, and American. Their only goal is to create legions of like-minded sheep that can be sent out into the world to do their bidding.”  (Lewis Morris). Three presidents of three elite U.S. universities, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard, and the University of Pennsylvania, recently appeared before a House Hearing on antisemitism at their respective universities.  None of them were willing to totally condemn antisemitism on their campuses.  When asked if “a call for Jewish genocide would be considered harassment on their campuses.  Each president responded similarly, saying it would depend on the context of the calls and if calls turned into conduct.”

Representative Elise Stefanik, a member of this House Hearing committee, commented, “The failure to call out and punish those demanding the genocide of Jewish people is the consequence of decades of appeasement of radicalism and watering down of principle at our most hallowed institutions of higher education, which were founded as bastions of moral clarity and the pursuit of truth.”  In other words the unbelievable response to the evil of October 7th was promulgated by the failure to teach college students about good versus evil, and truth altogether.  The leftist ideologies taught, and too often believed, at most non-Christian universities, elite or not, are shown to be evil simply by the student response to evil committed by Hamas.

But this evil is not limited to institutes of Higher Education.  Our public elementary and high schools have also been subjected to leftist ideologies that are evil for many reasons.  One reason this subjection should be considered evil is because it is nothing more than indoctrination that openly devalues common American values, and instead promotes critical race theory and the rights of the LGBTQ+ community.  Without parent consent many of our public schools are attempting to influence our children to make decisions, such as gender identity, on their own.  While these parents insist that public schools should not be indoctrination centers, those on the left insist that parents should not be able to tell schools what to teach.  When conservative parents do not desist from their complaints Biden’s Justice Department often begins to investigate these parents as potential “domestic terrorists.”

Another evil promoted by public education system is the idea of equity.  Equity sounds great until you actually look at the repercussions of such a policy.  The idea of equity is to guarantee equal outcomes, not equality, which is the guarantee of equal opportunity.  The enforcement of equity policies means that no student will be allowed to outperform another student.  They will all be guaranteed the same outcome.  Under these policies educational opportunities that challenge students in such things as accelerated programs will not be available.  The result is that many high school students graduate without the ability to perform well at the college level.

When are children’s schools make “equity” their main priority they spend less time evaluating the individual skills and talents of students.  If our public school are to be successful in providing the best education they must include merit. “Merit must exist, because if you do not have merit, you do not have good education. . . . If you can’t do that, you’ve failed as a school,” said Wai Wah Chin of the Chinese Americans Citizens Alliance of Greater New York.  “Teaching students to be activists first before teaching students to think . . . is a failure of education, she added. . . . If you do not respect facts, and you do not respect logic, you are not capable of making the decisions that are important for yourself in life and in the world,” she continued. “And that’s what our schools must do: Provide that kind of environment so that you have facts and not ideology.”

Paul Rossi, a New York City teacher, followed up on Chin’s comments about ideology in the school system.  He said the school pushes ideas such as “anti-racism, critical race theory, gender ideology, these progressive beliefs, which have really come through the universities and dominated education, because most of the people who go through the [education] schools and teachers are inculcated in these ideas.”  He said he has seen a shift away from building character to a focus on group identity.  One teacher said “that in his two decades of teaching, he’s noticed a pattern that students increasingly don’t have the knowledge they need when they enter higher education. . . .Students aren’t learning. They are simply being cycled through the system.”

Critical Race Theory

Yet another evil promoted mostly by the left is “Critical Race Theory.”   This promotes the belief that 

racial oppression exists everywhere, and that “all of life must be seen through the power dynamic of the “oppressed vs. the oppressor.” (Mike Gonzalez). A part of the promotion of this theory is the teaching of K-12 students the ideas of Critical Theory which includes the need to disrupt existing systems of power.  “Black Lives Matter” is one of those movements that is “committed to disrupting the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement.”

Critical Theorists displace America’s tradition of freedom—that all people are created equal and have a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness—and concepts promoted during the Civil Rights era, such as treating people according to their character and not their skin color. Critical Theory and its offshoots displace these traditions and concepts with accusations of guilt, and a Marxist doctrine in schools, the media, and the common culture that divides people into oppressors and the oppressed.

The general belief of many Critical Race theorist is that since much of our current legal and political systems were created by our society in the past by people who they deem were actual racist, then anyone who defends these systems today are in themselves racists.  In other words, according to these theorist, you are racist simply by defending the political and governmental systems that helped make our country so great, just because those systems were created by people who would be considered racists when using today’s far left ideological terminology.  

In order to win people over to this point of view it is necessary to use human emotions to manipulate how one views the theory’s presented.   They leave no room to have a rational conversation based on logical thinking.  Of course, “[t]here is nothing innately wrong with appealing to emotions (despite it being an informal fallacy of logic). However, if the central emotion one attempts to harness is an emotion which is objectively destructive to human persons– destructive to their own selves, their communities and, most importantly, their relationship with God, then the appeal is itself immoral.”  (Anthony Costello)  The destruction this causes to the individual, to communities, and to our relationship with God is therefore, by definition, Evil. 

One of the emotions they are adept at using is that of resentment.  The “embrace of resentment not only can affect an individual, but it can “spread through a whole social class, a whole people, a whole epoch. . .. Tapping into resentment is a potent weapon. Getting people to relish in their resentment may just win you the war.”  (Anthony Costello)  Directly related to using resentment as a weapon is greed.  Greed is also used as a weapon to help spread resentment throughout our cultural and political systems.  This tactic is designed to keep people in a perceived state of victimhood.  

The idea of those who are oppressed and the idea that the world is full of oppressors is not that simple. 

Rabbi R. Mitchell Rocklin points that keeping people in a permanent state of victimhood is crucial in exploiting resentment.   “Without people seeing themselves as victims, race baiters and peddlers of race cannot harness resentment. For once one is liberated from the feelings of victimhood, resentment itself dissipates, and, God willing, eventually vanishes. It is at that point emotionally, and spiritually, that a person, a people and a country can move from resentment to reconciliation.”  Interestingly, those who wish certain people in a state of permanent victimhood also tend to resent Israel and post-Holocaust Jews.  This revelation is important in understanding the hatred of Jews today.

Ironically antiracism, as the most prevalent form of resentment in today’s society, appears to many Christians to be in line with the idea of sin (slavery) and atonement (reparations).  In effect, therefore, many Christians have “fallen prey” to the social justice movement because they see it as being in line with Christian values.  But, as black theologian Voddie T. Baucham points out, “Antiracism knows nothing of forgiveness because it knows nothing of the Gospel. Instead, antiracism offers endless penance, judgment, and fear. . . . This talk of antiracism and this talk of critical social justice is very much religious in its overtones,” he said, explaining how it ‘borrows from the Judeo-Christian worldview in terms of the words that it uses.’. . . This religion has its own theology and theological terminology. . . . It has a dogged commitment to its ideology and its theology and a punitive approach to those who step out of line, . . . So it’s a religion, but as a religion, it offers no hope. There is no ultimate redemption in antiracism. You just have to do the work of antiracism for the rest of your life and hope you never step out of line, because if you do, then you go back to zero.”

Democrats Too Often Don’t Care About Moral Values

Do the Democrats in Washington D. C. care whether or not these social justice schemes are actually moral in nature?  Not necessarily so.  To underscore how some of these Democrats really feel about godly values, one only has to turn to Democratic Representative Jerry Nadler, who proclaimed, “What any religious tradition describes as God’s will is no concern of this Congress.”  This statement made by Nadler was in 2021, when the Democrats had control of the House of Representatives.  During his 2008 Presidential campaign then Senator Barack Obama revealed his attitude toward Christians and the Bible when he said referring to working-class voters in old industrial towns decimated by job losses: “They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.” 

“Since he took office, President Biden’s administration has routinely worked with radical individuals and groups like Randi Weingarten [President of the American Federation of Teachers] and the SPLC [Southern Poverty Law Center] to shape dangerous policy that targets Americans based on their religion [or] political views.” (Tyler O’Neil)  The Southern Poverty Law Center is well known for confronting mainstream conservative and Christian groups on a “hate map,” implying they see most Christians as domestic terrorist.  The SPLC brands conservative Christians “hateful” for opposing its LGBTQ agenda, and it brands parental rights groups “hateful” because they oppose its education agenda.  The reasonable conclusion is that the far left does not take into account moral values when forming social justice programs.

In the fall of 2021 after President Joe Biden took office, SPLC President Margaret Huang bragged in a donor meeting that many agencies in Biden’s administration had approached the center to craft a domestic terrorism strategy.  “I think there’s no question that we are unparalleled in our abilities to track and monitor the hate and extremist groups in the country, and I can tell you that we’ve had many agencies in the new Biden administration reaching out to solicit our expertise and our knowledge and information to help shape the policies that the new administration is adopting to counter the domestic terrorism threat.”

God Hates Sin 

In her Sept. 19, 2021 devotional from “Reflecting God,” Teanna Sunberg, using Psalm 50:12-23 as her inspiration, wrote of God’s anger toward sin.  I am including her entire devotion here because I feel it perfectly describes why God hates sin, and offers hope to those who are willing to recognize how sin destroys.

Teanna Sunberg wrote:

“In Psalm 50, God speaks clearly and plainly about His righteous anger towards sin. It’s hard sometimes to think of the anger of God, but we must realize that God hates sin because it destroys the creation He loves. God hates sin for what it does to you and to me. Sin destroys what God created and our relationship with God and others. God is not silent about sin, because God loves us.

The just and righteous heart of God calls us out of our sin, away from our flirtation with death. Humanity is so easily enamored by the perception that sin tastes good, gives fulfillment, births beauty. Sin destroys. God speaks boldly and clearly and aggressively, so that our eyes are opened to the grotesque face of sin hidden under the lies that we so easily believe. In the face of utter destruction, God’s voice of love is a clear proclamation, “Call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me” (v. 15).”

This devotional offers a perfect segue from the destruction that is always evident wherever evil resides, to the hope that God gives each one of us despite the fact that we virtually live in a society where evil seems to dominate the culture. 

This domination must be fought against.  In the Bible both Daniel and Nehemiah complain about immoral status of the nation of Israel, yet offer hope that this status can be changed and once again become a moral nation.  This immoral status is now repeated in our own nation today.  To make my point, I have paraphrased both the passage from Nehemiah and the passage from Daniel.  Which, as paraphrased reads:

“Oh, Lord our God, who created this nation with a mighty hand and who made for yourself a name that endures to this day, we have sinned, we have done wrong.  Lord, I call on You because you are the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments.  Lord, in keeping with all your righteous acts, turn away your anger and your wrath from The United States, your city, your holy hill.

I pray that your ear be attentive and Your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying before you day and night for your servants, the people of this nation.  I confess the sins, as a nation, we have committed against you.  We have acted very wickedly toward you.  We have not obeyed the commands, decrees and laws upon which this nation was founded.  Our sins and the iniquities of our leaders have made this nation and your people an object of scorn to all those around us. 

“Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant.  For your sake, Lord, look with favor on your nation which has been devastated by sin.  Give ear, our God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the nation that bears your Name, a “Christian Nation.”  We call on You in hopes that we can claim the promise of 2 Chronicles 7:14 that “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 

We pray, oh Lord, that you will heal this nation.  We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy.  Lord, listen!  Lord, forgive!  Lord, hear and act!  For your sake, my God, do not delay, because your nation and your people bear your Name.” (Nehemiah 1:4-9,  Daniel 9:7-19)

Through his book, “Hope For This Present Crisis” Michael Youssef hopes to encourage those who love Jesus to be “encouraged and motivated to stand up and not to be afraid,” and compel those “teetering” to find the strength and courage to stand for the truth of the Gospel.”  “We must take charge,” he writes. “Christians have abandoned so many areas of society, from media and the classroom. Instead of withdrawing, we need to go and invade these areas and take them for Christ and not be afraid. We are on the right side. We have read the last chapter, and it says we will win.”

Prayer is the only recourse that can match the unbelievable amount of affliction to which the far left purposely subject the people of this country.  They do not care about the people of the United States.  They care only about how they can maintain their power.  A society that purposefully and consistently places obstacles to repentance needs to have those obstacles revealed, addressed, and overcome by God through individual Christians.  

The souls of our succeeding generations hare dependent on our diligence.  Though God’s power can break through every obstacle that hinders repentance, that doesn’t mean I should stand back and wait for Him to work His miracle in the life of the lost.  For me, it is important that I allow God to work through me to reveal and help break down some of those barriers.  I cannot and will not remain silent.   Martin Luther King, Jr. challenged us with these words, “He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.”  The number of assaults on these United States from the left are so numerous and varied that any one person cannot possibly keep up with them!  We need each other to call on God for help, then firmly stand together to face the evil that so encompass us.
